On Monday night, sources tell ESPN that the Boston Celtics are dealing Jrue Holiday to the Portland Trail Blazers in exchange for Anfernee Simons and two second-round lottery selections.
Simons’ contract with Boston is about to expire, and Holiday owes around $72 million in 2026–2027 and 2027–2028. According to Bobby Marks of ESPN, the agreement saves Boston $40 million in luxury tax payments for the upcoming season.
Two years ago, Holiday was traded to Boston for Malcolm Brogdon, Robert Williams III, a 2024 first-round selection pick (who later became Bub Carrington), and a 2029 first-round draft pick. Portland now gets Holiday back.
